It isn't something to really fixate on though, much like the 'after' question. The answer to that is that when you die, you are dead, there is no 'after', there is just as the bible says... nothing, granted they go into elaborate lengths to describe 'nothing' as something, but in the hebrew... it is still 'nothing' or 'the void'. Once people accept that death is just that, the end... life i think is much more liberating, there is no promise of future happiness or pain, just the possibility of current joy, compassion, and friendships.
