At least you're black. You have something. You're a victim, the ultimate prize. You wouldn't make it a week as a white guy. You can't blame anything on anybody else.

So- owning a home... isn't that the American dream too?
I think the American Dream is to get ass deep in debt and find a way to not have to pay it off. As I currently live in the country with the largest debt per person- I think it is attainable. German's don;t even own the land they live on- they lease it from the state for centuries at a time. If their cars are more than 5 years old- they have to pay incredible taxes on them- so they always buy new ones... oh and the dollar equivalent of a gallon of gas these days i 9-10 dollars.

My dream? Not screw up my kids, have my husband in one piece to make it to AF retirement, and laugh a little every day. Maybe buy a house someday. A military wife can't expect much. :)

hmm, pain is an issue. It isn't something to really fixate on though, much like the 'after' question. The answer to that is that when you die, you are dead, there is no 'after', there is just as the bible says... nothing, granted they go into elaborate lengths to describe 'nothing' as something, but in the hebrew... it is still 'nothing' or 'the void'. Once people accept that death is just that, the end... life i think is much more liberating, there is no promise of future happiness or pain, just the possibility of current joy, compassion, and friendships. It is best to seek those when you have a chance.

Hmmm... answered yes to quite a few of the "Is Linux for you?" questions, but for some reason I prefer a Mac running OS X. Oh yeah, because it's hard to get any work done when you're all hot & bothered!

11. [Bonus] I miss Mac OS 6
could be rewritten as:
11b. [extra bonus points] I always wondered what a beta version of MacOS 6, with debug trace on, looked like on a colour screen.

Not only cheaper, but the manual doesn't smell bad, poop, bleed, or require feeding.

997 mechanics out of 1000 prefer maintenance manuals.
